Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is a beautifully fragrant oil steam distilled from the yellow flowers of Cananga odorata, sourced from the Comoros Islands. Native to Southeast Asia—including Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines—this tree produces highly aromatic blossoms prized for centuries in traditional rituals and modern industries alike.
Known as the “flower of flowers” in Malay, Ylang Ylang is rich in history and symbolism. Traditionally used in Indonesia to adorn marriage beds and in Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures to scent garments and private quarters, this oil has long been linked to romance, luxury, and relaxation.
In aromatherapy, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is renowned for its ability to calm the mind, soothe stress, and uplift mood. It is frequently used to help reduce anxiety, shock, depression, and emotional tension. Inhaling its sweet, floral aroma is said to lower blood pressure and promote feelings of peace and sensuality.
Despite being widely known for relaxation, scientific research also supports its mild stimulant effects, offering both emotional balance and mental clarity. It can be used in diffusers, bath soaks, massage oils, and skincare formulations.

10 Ways to Use Essential Oils
1. Aromatherapy Diffuser
Add 2–8 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser to disperse scent and improve mood.
2. Surface Cleaner
Mix lemon tea tree oil with water and vinegar in a spray bottle for a natural disinfectant.
Dilute with jojoba carrier oil for direct skin application to treat spots or use as perfume.
4. Dryer Balls/Laundry
Put 2–3 drops on wool dryer balls to scent clothes naturally, or add to homemade laundry powder.
6. Steamy Shower/Bath
Add a few drops to shower walls or in bath salts to create a spa-like, relaxing atmosphere.
5. Room/Yoga Mat Spray
Mix water, a small amount of rubbing alcohol (as an emulsifier), and oils in a spray bottle.
7. Passive Diffusion
Apply drops to cotton balls and place in gym bags, trash cans, or cupboards to eliminate odors.
8. In Your Bath
Dilute 5–20 drops of essential oil in 1 tablespoon of a carrier oil (like jojoba, coconut, or almond) to prevent skin irritation. Add this mixture to your bathwater after the tub is filled, and stir well just before entering to maximize benefits.

To create a natural essential oil spray, combine 20-30 drops of essential oil with 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol (to emulsify the oils) and fill the rest of a 4oz glass bottle with distilled water. Shake well before each use to refresh rooms, fabrics, or linens naturally. Most used oils are Citronella and Peppermint.
